Medieval Belts
made
Olde World Style
I am so tired of seeing really great outfits turn into rags with the addition of those cheap medieval belt, aren't you? Someone took a lot of effort to measure, cut, and sew a beautiful set of garb for someone, and then that somebody had to screw it all up by buying some cheap black belt with the stainless rivets and circle to wear with it...Why would you do this?! If you are going to take the time to look great, why would you want to think that something like a cheap leather will help?!

Not these belts my friends! Check these babies out and then come talk to me about those thin, vinyl-feeling, 1" wide leather "belts" that you saw for half the price of mine....

Anyone can throw a belt together, color it, and sew a ring into it, but how do you know what kind of leather or quality you are getting? Will they stand behind their belt? Do they guarantee your satisfaction? No, not really.

My belts are made from heavy 9-10oz full-grain leather. Dyed deeply so the finish stays even as your tankard lanyard or sword frog rubs against it. I use only stainless steel rings for rust resistance, and never, ever use rivets to keep the ring loop together. I use an older method of leather lace locking. Leather lace locking is a friction based closure that keeps it tight and looks great in its simplicity. It involves conditioning the leather with mink oil, extra virgin olive oil, and lanolin to make the leather lace supple and strong. Once these ingredients have been absorbed thuroughly, I sun bake it so that the leather lace "sweats" out the excess oils and dry's to a hard, tough, natural binding that won't loosen with age.

Sure, its a time consuming process, and there are faster ways of making a decent belt, but I am a traditionalist at heart. This is how I make MY belts, and I will only wear the very best in ANY leather item that I own.
